Tax Preparation and Planning
RMS provides both tax preparation and tax planning services to its business and individual
clients. We distinguish the
two services because each involves very different relationships and
processes. Tax preparation requires a periodic gathering of information for the purpose of
producing timely and accurate external information. Planning is an ongoing process that requires the client and
CPA to create a plan to follow in order to minimize tax liability and
utilize all planning opportunities. Effective tax planning will not occur unless the client and CPA
develop a close, trusting relationship.
Our professionals can provide tax services in a many areas that include:
- Individual tax returns with multi-state filings, if necessary
- IRS audit support
- Corporate, partnership, and limited liability entity preparation
- Business entity planning and organization
- Individual and business tax planning
Other tax related services that can be provided by our team of professional include:
- Business Valuation Services
- Estate and Succession Planning
- Investment and Retirement Planning

We also assist our clients with providing tax-free benefits
through welfare benefit plans such as cafeteria, group insurance and

Valuation Services
Our valuation services include
business valuations of private enterprises, calculations of damages in
litigation, and intangible property value determinations.
The majority of valuations are performed to determine actual
(real value) ownership interests in a privately held entity.
True value or worth of an interest is difficult to ascertain or
to approximate value because there is no active market to sell or trade the
interest. Value
determinations are most commonly needed to calculate estate tax upon
death, split up family assets in a divorce, and negotiate value in a
purchase, sale or merger of a business enterprise.
A business valuation is also useful in functioning as a
management tool assisting owners in assessing success and management
effectiveness.
Business owners need to be aware that application of an industry-wide formula in determining the
value of their business will normally result in a figure far different
from the actual value. Determining
the correct worth of your business requires a thorough scrutiny of the
company’s financial health.
This includes looking at both tangible assets such as real estate
and intangible assets such as goodwill.
Our valuation analysts then take this data and incorporate it
into complex and time consuming calculations in order to establish the
definite value of your business.
We can assist with the complexities involved in:
- Franchise valuation or evaluation
- Sale of a business
- Succession planning
- Mergers and acquisitions
- Initial public offerings
- Liquidation and/or reorganization
